Sponsorship
Through our parent company, Wyndham Vacation Ownership, we have actively supported sporting associations such as the National Basketball League's Sydney Kings (formerly known as the Trendwest Sydney Kings), the Queensland Reds, the Sydney City Roosters, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, V8 Supercar driver Jason Bright and continue to sponsor the Kirra Surf Life Saving Club.
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific has also been a very proud sponsor of the Australian Timeshare and Holiday Ownership Council's [ATHOC] Christel House Golf Tournament. This incredible fundraising event was held at 30 'tier one' tournaments across six continents to raise funds for sick, abandoned or orphaned children around the world. Money raised since 2006 for the ATHOC Christel House Open was distributed between Christel House, Variety Club and the newly formed ATHOC Foundation, which has been designed specifically to aid children in need locally.
We have also donated over $275,000 to the Queensland Deaf Society and the Spastic Centre of New South Wales in less than three years through direct monetary donations, and donations of accommodation and airfare packages used to raise funds. In addition, over $10,000 has been raised for the Guide Dogs Association through placement of donation tins at sales centres, and special events such as staff picnic days.
One of the company's more recent programs is certainly following through with our mission to give back to the community. The 'Hug a Tree' campaign sees Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, with the help of Greenfleet, planting a tree for every guest who attends a sales presentation. Since April 2006, we have been responsible for the planting of over 55,000 trees, and are aiming to become the world's largest benefactor in terms of single project contribution to the environment.
Other exciting news is the recent signing of Layne Beachley as the face of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific. Owners, staff and the public will be able to follow and support Layne through an internet diary blog on the Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific website, http://www.wyndhamvrap.com/.
Layne will also participate in charity events through our community program, Wishes by Wyndham, and recently joined President and CEO of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, Barry Robinson, in an Australian Timeshare Industry charity golf event in June.
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific are always looking for different projects to support and our affiliation with sponsorships and community assistance will only keep growing.
