Wyndham Wanaka Hosts Special Celebratory Dinner
April 1, 2011 : Diners at Wyndham Vacation Resorts Wanaka's Rafters Restaurant were treated to a culinary extravaganza when 2010 Australian Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Young Chef winner, Soren Lascelles paid a visit.
Soren joined award winning resident chef, Chris Hughes on 19 March 2011 for a special celebratory dinner. The chefs prepared and cooked the finest of the regions produce in a five course gourmet menu complemented by matching wines from New Zealand's south island.
The culinary experience included Bluff Oysters, fried whitebait, terrine of local rabbit, Marlborough King Salmon, and roast lamb; all accompanied by fresh salad or vegetable ingredients and delicious fruit desserts.
It was a traditional New Zealand fare prepared with a modern edge using the freshest ingredients available at that time from the region.
In recognition of being awarded the Australian 2010 Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Young Chef, Soren, from Sydney's famed Assiete restaurant travelled to Wyndham Wanaka located in Lake Wanaka, Otago, one of New Zealand's leading food and wine regions. There, he met with local producers, suppliers and growers to experience working with their products and discover the emerging trends of the region to create this memorable dining experience.
