Wyndham Unveils New Gold Coast Headquarters
18 May, 2011 - Gold Coast Mayor Ron Clarke has joined Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific staff and business colleagues for the official naming of the new Wyndham Corporate Centre in Bundall.
The launch of the new Asia Pacific headquarters on 18 May marks the beginning of a new decade on the Gold Coast for the global hospitality company that is part of the Wyndham Worldwide group of companies.
Mayor Ron Clarke congratulated Wyndham staff, saying the Gold Coast was an ideal location for the company.
"The Wyndham group has a strong reputation in hospitality, as does the city, and with a highly skilled local workforce here, it is a perfect fit," said Cr Clarke.
"The city is recovering well from the Global Financial Crisis and this decision to expand the Wyndham headquarters is a testament to the growing resurgence in business confidence on the Gold Coast."
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific CEO and Managing Director, Barry Robinson, hosted the event which included local and interstate guests, staff, family and friends enjoying an open day, tours of the building and lunch in the forecourt of the building.
"With 600 Gold Coast based employees and a contribution to the Gold Coast economy of almost $35 million each year in staff wages alone - the company demonstrates its confidence in the Gold Coast as a premier business destination and continues its commitment to the area', said Mr. Robinson.
"We have a strong interest in the Gold Coast having launched Wyndham Hotel Group in the South Pacific region with the launch of Wyndham Surfers Paradise last year. We will continue our growth as a business and as employers," he added.
Wyndham Corporate Centre is home to Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific and Wyndham Hotel Group in the South Pacific region. The new state-of the art premises located at 1 Corporate Court, Bundall, brings all employees together in one location having outgrown the previous office premises of five older style buildings.
Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific launched the Vacation Ownership club, WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham, on the Gold Coast in 2001 with one resort located at Coolangatta and a small band of employees. Today, the company employs around 1,200 people and the WorldMark South Pacific Club has a network of 21 resorts located throughout the Asia Pacific region.
